Coldplay released their first full-length album, Parachutes, in July 2000, which debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart and was nominated for the Mercury music Prize. Coldplay's new album went straight to No 1 on a Sunday, selling 300,000 copies in three days; concerts sold out; that iTunes ad was everywhere. Coldplay Short Biography Formed while at University College London, Coldplay have emerged in recent years as the band at the forefront of the UK's new rock scene. Coldplay toured for over a year, from June 2002 to September 2003, visiting five continents including co-headlining festival dates at Glastonbury Festival, V2003, and Rock Werchter.
Coldplay have also performed live renditions of the Bunnymen hit
"Lips Like Sugar" on a regular basis. Coldplay released their first
full-length album, Parachutes, in July 2000, which debuted at #1 on the UK
Albums Chart. "The Hardest Part":A classic Coldplay love song about
loss and heartbreak, in which Chris sings, "The hardest part was letting
go, not taking part. It's still classic Coldplay but it's also a
kinda new sounding
Coldplay. Coldplay.
Three quarters of Coldplay came into Xfm to demonstrate their DJ-ing skills and play their favourite tracks. This UK's acoustic rock group, Coldplay, was formed in January 1998. Soon after, Coldplay signed a major label deal with Parlophone Records. As a band, Coldplay have advanced to a stage where they outshine nearly every one of their rivals in terms of imagination and emotional pull. The truth is that Coldplay has an unmistakable "sound" largely due to Chris Martin's voice sitting in the middle of a pool of sounds that are able to soothe the listener while simultaneously provoking audatious thoughts about things such as fair trade ("Politik"), life ("Daylight") and the afterlife ("God Put A Smile Upon Your Face"), along with images of love ("Green Eyes") and breakups ("The Scientist"). By the time you get to "Clocks" and "Daylight," two wonderful, more optimistic songs right in the middle of the album lineup, you expect Coldplay to continue building up to something more. Music Musically, the band has never sounded more adventurous, referencing everyone from Kraftwerk ("Talk") to the Pogues ("Swallowed in the Sea"), all the while sweeping aside those Radiohead-lite comparisons to embrace a massive, moving sound that makes simplicity seem sublime. The first time I ever heard of or saw Coldplay, was on the much missed channel 4 music show hosted by Jo Whiley. Coldplay released their first full-length album, Parachutes, in July 2000, which debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart and was nominated for the Mercury music Prize.
Each member had come from a solid household of working-class
parents who encouraged music. These guys have only just "begun" -if
Chris Martin is not another rock star-to-go-astray, we will have a lot
more great music to expect from these guys in the years to come.
Chris Martin has told BBC Radio 6 in the UK that his band Coldplay are
unlikely to make the much anticipated return to the Glastonbury music
festival this year. Undoubtedly these guys are talented musicians,
but with half of the songs on their album referring to death, they're not
exactly the most cheerful chaps to have a drink with. Grudges
against whiney, depressing bands aside, it is musically a very good album
and the amount of work and effort the band put into it is well
publicised. Despite Coldplay's surge in popularity, the band has
remained very protective of how their music is used in the media.
The band allows their music to be used in film, television, and
promotional spots such as the movie trailer to Peter Pan. However,
Coldplay has been adamantly against the use of their music in actual
product endorsement. " Speaking to BBC 6 Music, he added: "When you
look at people like The Beatles who knocked out a couple a year, it sort
of makes us start to panic a little
bit.
Coldplay also built a reputation of performing eclectic covers, including Aqua's "Barbie Girl", Rammstein's "Du hast", and Nelly's "Hot in Herre", along with more heartfelt renditions of a-ha's "The Living Daylights" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World". Coldplay toured for over a year, from June 2002 to September 2003, visiting five continents including co-headlining festival dates at Glastonbury Festival, V2003, and Rock Werchter. Coldplay's third album, X&Y, was released on 6 June 2005 in the UK.
